Northampton County District Attorney Stephen G. Baratta is alerting the public to an ongoing phone scam targeting residents of Northampton County.
Northampton County residents have reported receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Department. The numbers used in these calls are (610) 488-2855 and (610) 829-5601.
During these calls, victims are tricked into believing that the Northampton County Sheriff’s Department demands immediate payment in order to avoid arrest and detention for criminal arrest warrants or bench warrants for failure to appear for jury duty.
